Today one of the best authors I've ever read passed away. It's always saddening when someone so influential in the world leaves it, but then again he isn't really leaving it because he left behind all of his amazing books.
Ray Bradbury is an author I wish I would have paid more attention to sooner in life. I can remember reading Fahrenheit 451 in high school and thinking it was such a great book. Everything about it was just chilling. I couldn't think of a world like that coming true, but now I can see so many similarities to what happened in the book and that's even more chilling! Looking back now to when I first read it I can see that I really did love everything about it and I'm still trying to figure out why I didn't go out and pick more of his books up.
Earlier this year was the first time I picked up another Ray Bradbury book and was back into the thrill of his stories. I found myself in the midst of Mars in The Martian Chronicles. I listened to it on audio book in my car to and from places and soon found myself sitting in my car for just a little bit extra to hear what was happening next.
He has touched my life with his books and has touched many others. I hope that everyone goes out and picks up at least one of his books because you'll never be the same. If I can't convince you then please read Neil Gaiman's article about Ray Bradbury and maybe he can. Click it. You won't regret it.
Neil Gaiman is a great writer inspired by a great writer and his message is so raw and heart felt. I have come close to tears many times today but mine mean little to the ones shed by those who actually knew him.
Rest in Peace Ray Bradbury. You will never be forgotten by me. Not ever.
