Today a long time family pet has passed away. Gopher the cat. He was an old cat to say the least but it still doesn't take the sting away from him dying.
To those of you who didn't know him and even to those of you who did; he was a loving cat. I think he loved everyone. Sure he didn't seem too keen on my cat when he was around, but he still tolerated him for awhile before shooing him off to go hunting or something. He also tolerated our dog which made him a saint in my eyes because he could have easily been mad about it, but he was pretty laid back.
He was a drooler to say the least. I think he always had drool on his face from the moment he saw you. He craved your attention and would give you plenty. I can remember times when I would be petting him on the porch and when I took my hand away he would reach out his paw and bat at my hand to let me know that he wasn't done with me yet.
Speaking of his paws. He had some huge paws. This was mainly because he had six toes on three of his feet. First time I had ever seen a cat with extra toes, and that made him extra cool in my book.
To celebrate the life of Gopher I'm going to post all of my favorite pictures I have posted of him. They all come from my deviant art page.
Gopher and his daughter Cinni
He always was a lap kitty
I can't imagine how his wifey cat; Scaredy, is going to take this.
But now he can watch over all our other lost kitties like the big ol' boss kitty he was.
Drooling his heart away.
I'll leave you with a silly little Haiku I wrote for him.
My heart breaks in two
Drooling face, never forget
In my heart always
Goodnight
