May 21st, 2012: Lazy can't be helped.

When you have the privilege of getting a long weekend it is incredibly hard to do any of the productive things you should do.  There just isn't enough time in the day to accomplish everything during the work week and then when you have your weekends, well who really wants to do housework? No one. That's who.

This has been a most delightful extended weekend for me and I was just so lucky to have it happen over my birthday weekend too.  It was like a little present for me.  I will not be happy to go back to work tomorrow that is for sure.

I did try to accomplish a few fun things though.  I worked some more on the Doctor Who scarf I'm knitting for Chad.  Even though it is my first ever time knitting something; I think I'm really getting the hang of it.  I think I'm starting to get a technique down, or at least I'll be really good at the garter stitch now.

My dog looks really enthusiastic in the background.  At least she is using the dog bed correctly for once.  I can't even tell you how many times she just lays next to it or half in it.  I'll have to search for a photo of that some time as proof of how amazingly 'smart' she is.

Charli is a pretty good distraction for me sometimes though.  For example; when I'm feeling down she'll let me set her in my lap.  She really enjoys laps but most dogs do.

Anyways! Enough about Charli! What else did I do today? Glad you asked.

I did a rather unsuccessful job search.  I'm still trying to find a new job that isn't terrible.  I am glad I even have a job right now, but having a job and feeling like you are wanted and needed at your job are different things.  Does that make sense?  I could have a worse job, that is certain. I could be doing so much more else where and would be appreciated way more than where I am now.

When I talked to my friend Jason on Saturday about his new job (he just recently got out of the job I'm currently in) and it sounds like the stuff from fairy tales and tv at this new place.  I want to find my fairy tale dream job doing something I can get my heart wrapped up in.  Instead of getting my heart stomped on.

Is that too much to ask?

Enough of this depressing topic.  I've already tried to work off that depressive mood by riding some on my squeaky exercise bike that makes my butt fall asleep, but that didn't help.  You know what will help?  Pictures of me and my dog with our unkempt hair from our lazy day.  She looks so 'pleased' when I make her take pictures.
I just realized that I have been mispronouncing/spelling unkempt all my life. I could have sworn it was unkept. My world is rocked by this.  I think I need a moment to collect myself with this new found information.

Goodnight!

May 20th, 2012

Such an original title. No?

Suppose I could have made it something along the lines of "IT'S MY FREAKING BIRTHDAY!1!!!one!!!" but I felt the date itself would suffice.

As I had planned before I was going to start up with my daily posts once my 25th birthday rolled around.  So here I go! As of right now I'm not doing any sort of 25 things to do while 25 but I still might do something along those lines.

24 was a good year but it definitely had it's bad moments.  To put my year into a nut shell I will give some incredibly vague descriptors of negative and positive experiences throughout my 24th year.

Negatives: Breaking up, random depressive anxiety attacks, feeling alone, strong dislike for my workplace, lack of funds
Positives: Breaking up, finding the courage and strength to make bold choices, buying a house, dating my current boyfriend, realizing I don't really have it all that bad, comfort in family, rescuing a dog who is 'special' to say the least, learning how to make cinnamon roll waffles, working on White Christmas, tweeted back by Neil Gaiman

Well some of them aren't all that vague, and I'm sure there are more positives and negatives to add but can't think of them right now.

When I think back on that year of life I really don't want to focus on the negatives.  They were a big part of the choices I made but I definitely prefer to remember the positives in life.

I think you should do the same.  Just an idea.

Now for what I actually did today!

I spent the day lazing about with Chad.  We watched My Neighbor Totoro and he decorated a store bought cake for me with some of the fasting burning candles on the planet.

I decided to wear one of the shirts Chad bought me for my birthday today as well. (He let me open my presents the day before)

I love this shirt.  I remember when I first saw it online and how much I laughed at how brilliant it is. The fact he remembered I liked it was awesome. (If you don't get it then you probably haven't seen Dragon Ball Z.  Here is a little video link to see the Fusion in action.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0uQor_juqE&feature=related )

He got me another shirt and My Neighbor Totoro was actually a birthday present from him as well.  I'm fairly certain the mustache wallet he gave me last week was also apart of my birthday presents too.  (I think he was afraid I would buy one...and I almost did)  I'm sure I'll get a picture of the other shirt and wallet at some point.

Today was also the solar eclipse happening.  Minnesota was only cool enough for a partial eclipse but I'm just glad I managed to see it.  I was so worried that I was not going to be able to see it because when I woke up earlier in the day it was very cloudy out and I was almost certain it would not clear up by the time the eclipse was going to happen. (Chad can vouch for my whining and 'crying' about it)

After the eclipse I enjoyed a good laugh at The Pirates! A Band of Misfits with Chad.  I seriously recommend it.  Those kind of movies are always for a good laugh and totally not just for kids.

I think it may be time for bed after my rousing weekend of fun.  Charli and I say bring on another year of life!

I look slightly terrified while Charli is clearly unimpressed.
Such is life.

Good night!

June 16th-20th, 2011

I seriously hate when I get behind on my blog like this and I'm not really sure why I didn't do it over the weekend.  I had one of those extremely lazy streaks come over me.  Now the challenge is trying to remember what I did during the days I missed.

I went to the movie Super 8 and that was pretty good.  I've heard it described as the modern day ET and I guess you could kind of say that.  I would have to agree with some that the mystery with seeing the alien for so long doesn't let you get time to truly connect and care about the alien.  I wish that there could have been a moment where we could become to understand what it wanted more.  Ah well.  Still good anyway.

On Friday, I believe, I went to some houses.  Well, I finally got to see the inside of a few houses.  This house search is kind of annoying but I have a feeling that apartment searching would be just as annoying.  I'm hoping to get the whole housing situation figured out soon.  There are a few hopefuls as far as a place to live, but we shall see how that goes.

Weekend was extremely boring.  I wanted to make something that needed some brown sugar...which brought to my attention that someone had thrown out my brown sugar..soooo I didn't make it. I made rice crispy treats instead!  Totally worth the 3 weight watcher points for each piece.

Speaking of weight watchers, lately I seem to be magically eating my exact amount of points without using my points calculator like a nazi.  I think I'm finally start to memorize what certain things count as and getting better at mentally figuring it out.  Which is helpful because my mobile app isn't working.  Apparently I don't have enough room on my phone...again...Bah.

Lastly, my garden is doing wonderfully!  Just check out my lettuce!

(Part of the reason I'm excited for a house is that I can finally have a real garden!)

Oh yeah and I forgot that sometime during this stretch of me being a lame face and not posting this happened. I opened an egg and it had two yolks...I'm not sure if that is supposed to happen...I think the second egg I cracked open did the same thing.  Is that what happens when eggs get old?  I was kind of concerned after that and threw them away a few days later just in case.  I mean I did eat the ones I cracked and I'm not dead now, but it just seems odd.

June 2nd, 2011

Bet you can't guess where I went today...and if you can't figure it out, well maybe if you try really really hard you can guess correctly.

I went to Ovo.  One of the traveling shows for Cirque du Soliel.  They set themselves up outside the Mall of America. Not the best location for the show but it worked out well enough.  The planes taking off over head were noticeable during the show but they covered them for the most part with the music.

Please don't hurt me or get angry at me of fantastic Cirque but I took pictures before the show started.  None during, so that's less bad. Right?

First thing you see when you come in is this big balloon egg in the middle of the stage.  The big top is a nice size on the inside.  I was worried how we were all going to fit inside but it is 'bigger on the inside'.  (For all those Doctor Who lovers)

My seats weren't half bad either.  I don't there was really any seats that would be considered bad.   The ones on the far sides would have probably had issues seeing.  My seats were on a main aisle too so at one point one of the main characters, the fly I believe, walked past right in front of us.  I could'a tripped him if I was mean...and probably gotten kicked out. lol  Great show though.  Just like any other Cirque show out there.

Now on to some of the technical stuff!  Well only one thing could I really get a picture of because it was so dark and there is no flash photography allowed.  In front of me was one of the rigging towers where two of the spot light people sat.  They had these cool chairs with the spot connected to them and could swivel around freely.  It's pretty impressive if I may say so myself.  I would totally hate getting up there because of the height but it would be way cool to spot up there.

A picture of the spider web set up at the beginning of the second half.  We got a 30 minute intermission to wonder about and they set this up while people were distracted by merchandise and super expensive concessions.  I did however get 5 dollars off my program by using my American Express card. Cha-Ching!

Omg I almost forgot! My favorite part of the entire show; besides everything, was this giant flower that bloomed during a part and then un-bloomed later.  It actually bloomed twice.  It was quiet possibly the most beautiful thing I have ever seen and it isn't even a real flower.  There was a second flower that bloomed too but it wasn't nearly as impressive as the first one, or at least in my opinion.

All I can say is...I love Cirque.  The end.

May 31st, 2011

A day just like any other day, until I decided to actually inquire to medical professionals about what ales me.

I don't know about any one else but I'm the type of person that doesn't like to go to the doctor unless I'm loosing a limb or I can't walk.  Something along those extreme lines, but today was different.  I had some pain in my lower left abdomen for a day or so that I didn't think was all that normal so I took the plunge and called up a nurse.  I just wanted to see if they thought I needed to see someone right away or if it could wait for a few days until I could make an appointment.  Much to my surprise, the lady said that I should probably go to the ER and have them look at me.

A bit scary for someone to say go to the ER but I did and of course put up with the hours and hours and hours of waiting in the waiting room and missed work because of it.  Of those that read this and also work with me, I will say that I think it was worth finding out the issue to miss work but you can also know I didn't want to miss work...I just was a bit more concerned about myself.

Never fear though, I'm going to be fine.  There is just some inflammation that can be taken down easily enough with Ibuprofen.  I did however get to experience my first ultra sound and found out I have a cyst on my right ovary.  Cysts are normal to get and they said it wasn't anything to be concerned about.

So my body is on a week probation and if it doesn't get better in that time frame then I should probably see a gynecologist  Woo?

All I can say is thank God it wasn't something worse and lets hope and pray it gets better and nothing else is wrong with me.  I can't afford to spend money fixing myself.

After four hours in the waiting room and 3 hours in the ER I think I deserve a nap. zzzzz

May 30th, 2011

Parents headed out bright and early. I guess I should say my family because my little brother came along as well. Would have been nice too keep them for longer but I knew they had to get back.

I honestly didn't accomplish much today.  I thought about riding my bike but then I heard hearsay about severe weather and decided to nap instead...  I don't even think the weather got that bad.

I did make up for that laziness by playing some kinect and getting a work out from that.  Some of those games can really get your heart pumping while you jump around like a fool.  I had no idea the adventure game that came with the kinect was actually fun until I had  played it with my brother and Scott in Montana before returning here.  I think I have discovered a way to work out that might actually be fun. :P

Oh, by the way, why can't the wind be a little less powerful so I can fly my awesome dragon kite?  It says it can only take winds up to 15 mph.  When I was considering flying I looked up how fast it was blowing outside and it say around 25 mph...so I decided to say no to the kite.  I'm sure I'll get another chance to fly it and it's awesomeness.

RAWWWWWWRRRRRRGGHGHHHH

May 27th, 2011

My last day in Montana for my vacation.  It was a nice relaxing vacation for me.  Well, despite having to help my mom with some trophies and awards work.  It wasn't terrible to help out and at least I didn't forget how to do any of it yet.

I got to look through my families cupboards and snatch a few things though.  I mostly grabbed things for my kitchen.  Awkwardly enough, right now my kitchen has the least amount of space in my entire apartment, but is more for the future when I have to find a new place.

I'm hoping that I will be able to find a nice place that is with in my budget soon.  I don't really enjoy sitting around wondering if I'm going to be able to afford my next place.

Enough of that talk!  Back to what else I did today!  I had a fun time with my old friend Scott.  Not old as in age, but as in we've known each other since we were wee ones old.  He had never used the kinect before so he came over and played that with my brother and his brother.  All I can say is I'm glad that no one was filming it because I'm sure we looked pretty foolish at times.

It's hard to leave a place like Montana but when life and opportunities are pointing me towards Minnesota you can't really turn your back on that.  Maybe some day I'll come back to Montana. We shall see.

Happy Valentine's Day!!! (Yes I am aware that this post is late for the day)

I hope everyone spent the day with people they love, from your boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, friends and family (maybe even pets).  You don't have to just spend the day being all mushy with someone.  You can spread the love to everyone.

So, for all those people out there who get all mopey and obsessed with the fact they are single on Valentine's day, I say let your family know you love'm instead.

In fact even though this post is later than V-day, I say go tell the people you love that you love them right now.  Today.  You don't need a silly day to tell them.  I certainly hope you let them know more than once a year that you love them.

Sundays are always strange when you have a show in the middle of the day.  It was kind of nice to be up for the day, but had to suffer those consequences when I had work that night.

Random thought to put in this bloggety blog.  You know what I hate?  When you get a drink like an Icee or a smoothie and you can't get the drink off the bottom.  Try as you might all you can do is move the straw around and attempt to suck up what you can in tiny bits. It's frustrating, but so worth the effort at the same time.

Anywhos, back to my day.  I decided to do some baking in time for Valentine's Day. And the strangest thing happened when I tried to crack my egg.

I'm really not sure how it didn't break open all the way.  The shell kept flaking off but I had to crack the other side of the egg in order for it to get open.  It was strange.  I have never seen an egg do that in my years of cracking eggs.

I decided to make red velvet cake in honor of the whole red thing with Valentine's day.  When I saw the mix first I was confused about how it was brown.  I didn't understand how it became red...until! I added some liquid and bam! The red became to appear! I'm so easily amused, but I have never made red velvet cake before....

I have also never used one of these silicon pans.  To be honest they kind of scare me.  I'm just unsure how a floppy pan is gonna cook something.  While it was cooking it kind of let off a very weird smell.  I didn't like that smell, to say the least.  I'm just hoping that it doesn't cook into the cake and make it taste strange as well. Also, if I choose to use it again...doesn't make that smell again.

BUT, if the cake tastes funny I used some of the mix to make some beautiful cupcakes!  I haven't used my single cupcake/muffin glasses before, so that was a new experience for me as well.

They loooooook soooooooo perdy!  Yum!

I topped off the cupcakes with some cream cheese frosting that I dyed pink with food coloring.  I wanted them to be dark red but I couldn't get them dark enough.  Oh well!  They taste fantastic.  In case you wanted to know.  I have not tasted the cake yet though.  Soooooo I can't tell you what it tastes like.

I will show you a picture of the cake tomorrow for Valentine's Day. : )

Didn't really feel like writing anything but I didn't want to get super behind again.

I saw this awhile ago but I always forgot to post about it.  One of my goals for my blog was to get a hit from Russia and as you can see I got one! I was extremely excited the day I noticed that I did.  I mean, who doesn't want Russia to be looking at their blog? Haha.  Now all I need is to get more than one and I'm on my way!

Also it is kind of odd to have views from Slovakia. Kind of amusing to see where people are viewing from.  Maybe I'm just easily amused.

In case you didn't know....Joseph is actually Batman, or some sort of moth man.

At the end of the show we have a reveal of the big colorful coat and it got twisted in the pile before it was hung up.  Thus, it got tangled to make this kinda cool looking Bat/moth thing.  As cool as it looked, I really hope it doesn't happen again during the performance.  If we had raised it up higher it could have done some damage to the coat and probably how it was hanging.

Oh live theatre, always there for some interesting happenings.

February 9th, 2011

Ugh, I'm a terrible person.  I broke my streak of not having fast food for months.  I think the last time I had it was november.  I didn't want to eat it but I didn't have time to eat before rehearsal so I had to pick up a bite to eat or I was going to be dying by the time the rehearsal was over.

I was afraid my body was going to scream angrily at me for doing something like eating fast greasy food, but it actually didn't get upset.  In no way does this mean I'm going to start eating fast food again.  I can't afford to eat that all the time like I used to and what not.

Fight the power! Haha. Stupid fast food.

February 8th, 2011

So I don't think I told anyone this yet but I'm pretty sure Scuba Steve has died.  I don't see anything in his shell anymore...so I would assume he is dead, right?  I also have a strange feeling that he was eaten by G.P.S. (Giant Pink Snail for those who forgot the names of my snails)  Do snails eat each other?  I'm just really confused about where he would have gone... Strange.

Another day of rehearsal.  I will say it went better than the day before.  Found myself things to do backstage and stuff.

February 7th, 2011

Sorry. It's Tech week....That's my excuse for being so far behind on my blogging.

I started Tech week for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.  It's always great to be working on theatre work. : )  Considering that it is my passion in life.

Work is work, and hopefully they will start giving me the hours I need.  I am missing the money cushion in my pocket.

(These posts I have been super late on are probably going to be super short and really boring.  Sorry, but I just didn't have the motivation to type them up.)

SUPER BOWL!!!!!!!

It's always sad to be away from my family when it is super bowl sunday.  Grew up watching the super bowl every year with them and even when I have years of college under my belt away from home it doesn't make you not miss those things.  It's kind of like a holiday, but not. Haha. I don't know.

All I can say is, nothing like a super bowl sunday to inspire you to make foods you usually wouldn't. : )  Trying to keep with my own traditions I made a homemade pizza again.  I made one last year so I thought it would be neat to make another one.  Maybe one of these years I'll go so far as to make my own dough instead of buying it premade.

I only took a picture of it before I put it in the oven, but if I do say so myself, it looks just as good before as it does after.  It is mushrooms, olives, and turkey pepperoni with a three cheese blend.  Yummy!

I also made velveeta and no beans chili dip.  I made waaaaay too much.  I'll be having leftovers for days.  Anyone want some dip?

February 5th, 2011

Lack of postage.  I'm so terrible. Forgives me!

I had a long day today.  Woke up at around 8 am and made some breakfast.  I seem to be a fan of frying potatoes and then scrambling eggs into them.  It's tasty.

After breakfast made a visit to the library to see if there was any interesting free passes for museums.  There were a few but none were too exciting or appealing.  In the end decided to go to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.

That place was much larger than I expected. Trudged around the place and saw some neat things.  Those places can kind of be like a maze.  Today it was more of a maze because they were blocking off some areas for a show later on.

Oh I forgot that I had soup for lunch at Eddington's before I went to the museum.  I had forgot about that and I'm not sure how!  It was super tasty.  I really like that soup.  No lies.  I haven't tried many of the flavors but all I know is I enjoy the boundary waters wild rice soup.  Yum yum.

Speaking of more food, I had dinner at Pei Wei and saw this funny sign in the bathroom.

Why thank you bathroom door.  I was really unaware that I needed to lock it in order to ensure my privacy.  That would have been great to know years ago.  I have just been living this world of paranoia not knowing for sure if I was going to be private while in the bathroom.

So, I must spread this message to everyone.  Lock the door if you want privacy.

February 4th, 2011

Mrrr.  Pretty sure I slept away most of my day.  I accomplished maybe three total things, if you really count them as accomplishments.

I can't even figure out what I did.  Gosh, I believe I watched a movie and took lots of naps.  I'm such a lazy bum. Laaazzzy.  So lazy that I have been slacking off on these posts.  Which is my bad.  I just haven't had the urge to get online lately.  I think it's because I'm so lazy and sleepy.

I'm such a bore.  Haha.

February 3rd, 2011

I bought the best thing ever.  In case you can't tell I bought one of those fancy smancy eye covers.  It will serve to be a great investment I believe.

Hard to fall asleep with light in the room that some how sneaks in past the blanket I have covering my window.

I wasn't feeling tip top today.  I was pretty close to not coming in for work, but I made a great choice of taking a 20 minute nap instead of showering before work.  (Oh no, ew gross, I'm all unclean. Pfft.)  It was an interesting time at work too.

I think I'm just mostly excited for this eye cover.  Haha.

February 2nd, 2011

One of the worst possible things that could happen, exploded oatmeal.  Well it didn't quite explode, but it did overflow.  I literally went "awwww" when I opened the microwave.  Apparently 2 minutes is too long for it, eh?

Lets see.  My day was highly uneventful.  I think I spent it laying in bed napping trying to keep my chest cold from getting worst.  I don't think it actually helped because I still have it, but maybe.  It sucks getting sick and feeling poopy.

I'm hoping to get better soon.  I need to feel better so I can work on my sewing project again.

February 1st, 2011

I think it is time to throw away these pants...Massive hole in the crotch and I seem to be growing one in the rear that I didn't notice until I got home.  I mean I could sew on a patch or something, but I don't know if I'm that desperate to save these pants.  I think I can survive without them.

Sat in Joseph rehearsal today and got a taste of the madness I'll be working with.  Should be pretty interesting.  I'm probably going to be doing more people wrangling than anything else, or so I think.  I'm sure I'll have some other duties, but there is a huge cast to keep in line.

I gained some hours at work so tonight wasn't my last night this week.  Which is very nice for my wallet.  I don't like this whole not having hours game.  It gets frustrating.  Speaking of hours, lets hope I can get back up to a good amount or it's going to be pointless for me to sign up for benefits if they don't give me the hours to keep them.  Silly work.

Oh p.s. Welcome to February.  I got offered the job at the big red store a year from today.  I have to figure out my actual start date though so I can feel bad for myself...I mean celebrate. :P
